COMBINED SUCCESS OF SCIENTISTS OF THE INSTITUTE OF GEOLOGY AND GEOPHYSICS AND THE INSTITUTE OF PHYSIOLOGY
November 8, 2019
A grant project on “Study of the quality and life expectancy of the population living in the Azerbaijan regions with elevated natural background radiation” of the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU) was successfully implemented. The collaboration of the scientists of IGG and the ANAS Institute of Physiology implemented the project. The project final report was adopted by STCU.
Nine scientists collaborated on the project: six from the IGG, three from the Institute of Physiology during the year. The project manager was corresponding member of ANAS Chingiz Aliyev.
The project goal was to study the quality and life expectancy of the population living in areas with elevated background radiation in Talysh region. The studies were carried out in the Talysh region as required in the project. The relationship analysis between the lung cancer rate among the population and the radon distribution was treated, radiometric, biomedical and medical-sociological researches were conducted, and also the methods and techniques were developed.
The results, which are of great fundamental and social importance, will contribute to adapt of the human body abilities to real-life conditions, the proper control organization over the human environment and prevent radiation diseases.
