The present monograph is a generalized result of long-term paleontologic- stratigraphic, lithologic, structural-facial studies of volcanogenic-reef formations of the Lower Cretaceous of Bazarchai and Araza interfluve.
The monograph contains valuable data on the systematic composition of reef-forming and reef-loving organisms, on morphology of fossils organogenic structures, their interrelation with enclosing different-facial deposits. It is of great importance for these series stratification as well as examining the paleotectonic and paleogeographic factors controlling the formation and development of reef structures.
The work includes the schematic geologic map of the region, maps of microfacies, lithologic-stratigraphic typical sections of volcanogenic-reef complex with indication genetic types of rocks and 3D block-diagrams as well. Atlas of carbonate rocks is enclosed as well. The work also deals with issues of stratigraphical position and genesis of urgon biosedimentary system, the results of biogeochemical studies of reefogenic formations are given.
