The department of "International relations" provides expansion and deepening of scientific communications of Geological and Geophysics Institute (GGI) of ANAS with foreign scientific centers, the organizations the companies. The main functions of department are: communications with representations of the international companies, advertising of scientific production of Institute, participation of staff of Institute in the international conferences, meetings and exhibitions.

Main form of international relations of GGI is carrying out joint scientific researches on the different problems connected with a geological structure and oil and gas content of Azerbaijan. Such countries as the USA, Russia, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Japan, Switzerland, South Korea, Ukraine, Georgia, etc. take leading places in our communications with foreign scientific centers and the companies. Also, collaborations with scientific centers of Turkey, Kazakhistan, Dagestan are carried out.

About 30 foreign and international organizations - BP, Exxon/Mobil, Shell, Chevron, Unocal, Statoil, Conoco, RWE, OMV, INTAS, UNESCO, NATO, the Swiss national scientific fund, the American fund civil researches and development and others cooperate and develop the business and scientific relations with GGI.
At the GGI functions "Basin Modeling Center" supporting by BP Company. "The Center" is engaged in modeling of geological processes in areas of the South Caspian Basin insufficiently studied presence of the oil and gas point of view. On the basis of models the geological structure the basin is more objectively studied, and there are possibilities of increase in effective search of oil and gas.

Successes of the international scientific relations of GGI and results of the conducted scientific researches with foreign experts indicates, that today in integration of Azerbaijan into the world scientific community, there is a special place of geological science. A certain part of this played on close established international scientific relations.
