IGG EMPLOYEES ARE STUDYING COASTAL AND MARINE MUD VOLCANOES
October 23, 2021
The employees of the IGG Department of mud volcanism - leading researcher, associate professor Orkhan Abbasov, researcher Elnur Baloglanov and senior assistant Aygun Bayramova, conduct research on coastal and marine mud volcanoes (on the Caspian Sea).
The goal is to conduct thesis research of IGG PhD student Aygun Bayramova. The components of mud volcanic ejecta (mud, water, oil and gas) were geologically, mineralogically and geochemically studied. The comparative analyzes of the processes occurring in the mud volcanoes, particularly, the interaction of liquids and rocks, have been carried out.
The study of the obtained samples will be carried out at the Graz University of Technology (Austria). A business trip of A. Bayramova to this scientific institution is also planned.
