The Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS (IGG) is preparing to publish the “Course of Theoretical and Applied Geology” aimed at increasing young scientists achievement of theoretical and applied knowledge. These textbooks, implemented on the initiative and under the guidance of the Institutes scientists, will cover 11 branches of geology. Two editions have already been published – “Hydrocarbon systems” and “Direct geophysical and geochemical methods for search for oil and gas”.

The full member of ANAS Akper Feyzullayev is the author of the “Hydrocarbon systems”. The textbook gives a brief review of all geological elements and processes necessary for the formation and operation of oil and gas fields occurred in hydrocarbon systems. This textbook is designed for graduate and postdoctoral students studying in the specialty “Geology and geochemistry of oil and gas”. The gain knowledge will allow learning about the ontogeny of oil and gas, which the hydrocarbon potential assessment of the studied basin is based, as well as will define the potential directions of search for oil and gas.

The textbook the “Methods of direct geophysical and geochemical prospecting for oil and gas” (authors: full member of ANAS Akper Feyzullayev, Doctor of geological- mineralogical sciences Tofik Akhmedov and PhD in Earth sciences Sabina Abbasova) is designed for specialties “Geology, search and exploration of oil and gas fields”, “Geophysics, geophysical methods of minerals exploration”, “Geochemistry, geochemical methods of prospecting for minerals”. This textbook will help students to receive sufficiently complete information about the geochemical and geophysical properties of the geological environment in the hydrocarbons zone of influence.

Currently, the IGG scientists are preparing the textbooks in 9 other branches of the “Course of Theoretical and Applied Geology”.
