THE NEXT MEETING OF THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL WAS HELD

The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics was held.
The Director of the institute, academician Akif Alizadeh congratulated the IGG employees on the great victory of the Azerbaijani army. The academician spoke about the historical significance of the liberation of our lands from almost 30 years of occupation and noted the importance of carrying out research works in these territories.
Then A. Alizadeh introduced the agenda to the participants.
Abdulvahab Mukhtarov presented the final report on the compilation of the “Geothermal atlas of Azerbaijan and the cadastre of geothermal energy resources”, which was completed in 2020. After discussion, the report was adopted.
Then the IGG defender of thesis Rauf Nadirov acquainted the participants of the meeting with his important scientific results obtained in 2020.
Academician Fakhraddin Kadirov made a report on “Assessment of geological hazards and identification of underground war communications in the territory of Karabakh by geophysical methods”.
Academician Fakhraddin Kadirov reported on the activities of the branch of the BSU Department of seismology and the physics of the Earths Interior in the IGG.
Then, academician Akif Alizadeh spoke about the interdisciplinary studies to be carried out in the IGG in the field of process development for the minerals and renewable energy sources application.
The programs represented to the Scientific Council were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, a number of current scientific and organizational issues were discussed. Due to the growth of coronavirus infection in the country, it was decided to strengthen preventive measures in the IGG.
