IN 2019, 10 PAPERS OF EMPLOYEES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MYD VOLCANISM WERE PUBLISHED IN PRESTIGIOUS FOREIGN JOURNALS
March 11, 2020
The employees of the Department of mud volcanism published 14 papers in the field of geology, mineralogy, geochemistry, morphotectonic and internal structures of Azerbaijan mud volcanoes, of the oil shales and gas hydrates studies as alternative energy sources.
Four of these papers were published in Russia, Ukraine and Slovakia journals, indexed in the prestigious scientific databases “Web of Sciences” and “Scopus”. An article published in collaboration with the employees of the Geological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the prestigious Russian journal Lithology and Mineral Resources (Springer, USA) is devoted to the study of carbonates in Azerbaijan mud volcanoes ejecta. The three articles are dedicated to mineralogy, geochemistry and the conditions of oil shales formation. These articles are published in English in Ukrainian journals Geodynamics, Visnyk of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, series “Geology, Geography, Ecology” and the Slovak journal “Mineralia Slovaca”.
Four articles were published in Russian in the Russian journal “Lithology and Minerals”, included in the “Russian Science Citation Index” and in other databases, as well as in the Ukrainian journals “Mineral Resources of Ukraine” and “Geology and Minerals of the World Ocean”. These articles are dedicated to gas hydrates of the Caspian Sea, as well as to the study of then unknown accessory minerals of the mud volcanic breccia of Azerbaijan mud volcanoes and intermetallic compounds (in collaboration with foreign colleagues).
The articles also were published in the local journals “Azərbaycan Neft Təsərrüfatı” (Azerbaijan Oil Industry), “Azərbaycanda Geofizika yenilikləri” (Geophysical innovations in Azerbaijan) and “Azərbaycan Neftçi Geoloqları Cəmiyyətinin Elmi Bülleteni” (Scientific Bulletin of the Azerbaijan Society of Petroleum Geologists). These articles are dedicated to the comparative analysis of the mud volcanoes of Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea and Caspian Sea, to the accessory minerals, authigenic mineral formation, as well as to the oil shales study from mud volcanoes ejecta.
Furthermore, the employees of department published two abstract: the abstract on “Conditions of the oil shales formation” submitted at the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union in Vienna (Austria) and the abstract on “The impact of Azerbaijan mud volcanoes on the environment” submitted at the Conference “The First Eurasian Risk - 2019” held in Baku.
