THE RSSC HONORED THE MEMORY OF THE KHOJALY TRAGEDYS VICTIMS

The Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS has organized the event dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy. The memory of Khojaly genocides victims was honored with a minute of silence.
Then, the general director of the RSSC, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Gurban Yetirmishli noted that the Khojaly tragedy is one of the most terrible tragedies of the XX century. It should be remind that the Armenian dashnaks committed massacres against Azerbaijanis in the beginning of the 20th century. The general director noted that the Khojaly massacre was aimed at the Azerbaijani nation and people destruction. “In this massacre, the Armenians killed civilians, old people, women and children because they were Azerbaijanis. There they were tortured and held hostage. 613 people were killed. 25 children lost both parents. More than 1200 people are missing”.
G. Yetirmishli noted that on May 8, 2008, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva initiated international awareness campaign the “Justice for Khojaly”. Every year, under the leadership of the President, the events dedicated to the memory of Khojaly are held. Numerous events dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy were held so far in various countries, and wide-scale propaganda and agitation works carried out. However, the Khojaly genocide has not yet get its legal-political assessment. Gurban Yetirmishli said that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev Azerbaijan is the leading country in the region and expressed confidence in the soonest liberation of the occupied lands.
