December 19, 2019
In order to refine the seismological studies carried out the territory of the republic, the ANAS Republican Seismological Survey Center plans to install new 22 seismic stations. 14 stations will be installed in coastal regions along the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea and 6 - around mud volcanoes within the project “Seismic network expansion in the Caucasus”.
Currently, there are 35 RCSS permanent seismic stations on the territory of the republic. In addition, 17 stationary seismic stations, as well as 10 basalt stationary seismic stations with ground vibration, are operating under the “Caucasus Pipeline” project. In total 84 seismic stations will operate after the new stations installation in the country.
It should be noted that the studies are based on data exchange with three seismic stations of the Georgia Seismological Survey Center and two seismic stations of Turkey, located in boundary regions.
