SCIENCE.GOV.AZ PORTAL AWARDED WITH THE HONORARY DECREE OF THE INSTITUTE OF GEOLOGY AND GEOPHYSICS

“A round table” was organized at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS with participation of representatives of mass media of the country. The main goal was to award a number of media outlets with honorary decrees on the occasion of the 80th jubilee of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, as well as regular publication of the scientific activity of the organization.
Opening the event, deputy director of the Institute for Scientific Affairs, correspondent member of ANAS Dadash Huseynov spoke about the history and basic scientific directions of this institution. He noted that during 80 years of its existence, the institute has achieved a number of significant achievements and made significant contributions to the science of the country.
D.Huseynov underlined that "Atlas of mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan" was prepared by specialists of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, several scientists of the organization were awarded with honorary decrees, as well as various state awards.
Then the honorary decrees were presented to representatives of 20 press agencies, including the science.gov.az portal of ANAS, “Elm” newspaper and ElmTv Internet TV as well as a number of Internet portals and television channels.
Speaking at the event, deputy chief of the Press and Information Office of ANAS, member of the Union of Journalists of Azerbaijan Ulviyya Rzayeva noted the growing demand for scientific information with the development of science and technology in the world and said that today the society is watching scientific issues with great interest.
She highlighted the importance of promoting science. One of the key issues in popularization of science is its specialization. Experience has shown that higher education results are achieved when the specialty and journalistic education is united, she added.
U.Rzayeva invited students of journalism specialty at different universities of the country to practice in the scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS and recommended them to study in laboratories together with scientists to acquire practical knowledge, write about scientific themes.
At the end of her speech, deputy chief wished success to colleagues, who actively participated in promoting the scientific activity of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, contributing to the popularization of different directions of geology science.
Head of the Department of Petrology of the Institute, Academician Arif Ismayilzadeh, Head of Mud Volcanism Department, Professor Adil Aliyev, Head of Public Relations Department Shirmammad Nazarli and others noted that Geology and Geophysics Institute always closely cooperates with mass media and its activities are widely covered in press agencies. .
At the end, the press representatives thanked the leadership of the Institute for Geology and Geophysics for their support and attention to the media.
