Ph.D. DEFENSES WAS HELD IN THE INSTITUTE OF GEOLOGY AND GEOPHYSICS

A meeting of the Specialized scientific council for the Ph.D. defenses was held in the ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics. The Deputy Director in science, the Head of the Dissertation Advisory Committee, corresponding member of ANAS Dadash Huseynov opened the meeting and acquainted the participants with the meeting review.
At the meeting, the results of graduate students, who have been undertook a IGG master’s degree in 2016-2017, were presented on the following topics: “Lithostratigraphy and the microfauna of sediments of the Absheron archipelago” (Fatma Suleymanova, specialty “Geology of the ocean and the sea bottom”), “Studies of slip and neotectonic processes of the Absheron peninsula on the base of aerospace and GPS data” (Nabat Gojayeva, specialty “Regional geology”), “The facies model of the layers of the Kirmaki suite, sand layers connectivity, petrophysical peculiarities of the collectors and seals (on the example of the Kirmaki valley)”, “Geothermal development of the Bulla more structure during velocity subsidence of the South Caspian basin” (Khayal Amrakhov and Javid Omarov, specialty “Geology of oil-gas-bearing basins”).
The Council’s members asked numerous questions on the theses topics. The first scientific papers of young scientists were highly appreciated. The Dissertation Advisory Committee noted the importance to follow the recommendations of scientific advisors.
