AZERBAIJAN AND ITALIAN SCHOLARS INVESTIGATES MUD VOLCANOES AND THERMAL WATERS OF THE COUNTRY


Azerbaijan and Italian scholars investigates mud volcanoes in Shamakha-Gobustan region and thermal waters. The purpose of the fulfillments carried out by ANAS Institute of Geology, Italian National Research Council (INRC) and FlorenceUniversity is to find out similar and different features of mud volcanoes of the both countries.

Filed researches commencing since June 20 are being carried out by corresponding member of ANAS Akbar Feyzullayev and Dr. geology-mineralogy Chingiz Aliyev from Geology Institute, Marco Bonini and Giovanna Moratti from INRC, Vaselli Orlando and Benedetta Antonielli from Florence University. They took samples of rock, gas and water from Akhtarma-Pashali, Kichik Mereze, Uchtepe and Ayazakhtarma mud volcanoes located in the region.

In addition, Galeybugurt, Chagan and Khaltan thermal waters were taken gas and water samples. Isotope-geochemical analyze of the samples and compare of mud volcanoes with other ones are intended in
Italy.

Field researches will be completed on June 26. All works are carried out within the two- year project which signed between INRC and ANAS and finishes at the end of 2013.
