The employers of ANAS Institute of Geology – head of Petrology Department, Academician Arif Ismayilzadeh, head of Geotectonics and regional geology department, Doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences Talat Kangarli and young researcher Fuad Aliyev had been in Tbilisi, Georgia. The results of the three-year project on “Geological sciences of Southern Caucasus” have been discussed at the meeting held at the Institute of Geophysics named after Nodia with participation of Azerbaijan, Georgia and France scholars.
It should be noted that, the project had realized within the frame of the agreement signed between National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and Georgia and National Center for Scientific Research of France in 2009. The aim of the project completed in 2012, was the investigation of tectonic and geodynamic processes in the South Caucasus happened during the Alpine period. The head of the joint researches was the Professor of University of Nice Sophia Antipolis Mark Sosson.
Reports on the results of the project had been attended at the meeting. The representatives of the Institute of Geology reported on results of studies carried out on geodynamics and metallurgy of the Lesser Caucasus of Azerbaijan. After lectures and discussions, the participants decided to continue the project and researchers.
It was decided to expand relations with Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and Iran experts and to realize appropriate measures connected with this project.
