SCIENTISTS OF ANAS INSTITUTE OF GEOLOGY ATTENDED IN A CONFERENCE HELD IN ITALY

5-day event was organized by European Quaternary Period Department of International Union for Quaternary Research.

In the event, director of ANAS Institute of Geology, vice-president of ANAS, acad. Akif Alizadeh, director assistant on scientific issues, acad. Ibrahim Guliyev, chief departments and Dr. geology-mineralogy - Elmira Aliyeva and Dadash Huseynov delivered lectures on geological history of Caspian Sea, as well as on changes in the level. Scientists stated that, being sometimes in the course with the Black Sea (2588 million years ago), the Caspian has been faced with ebb and flows and process of global warming. As a result, the level of the sea significantly reduced, the area has shrunk and has become to closed basin. Long-term changes at the level of the Caspian Sea are explained for tectonic processes by scientists.

Acad. Akif Alizadeh noted

The decline in the level of the Caspian Sea via impact of global warming has been raised in recent decades, and this process is still going on.

Scientists from England, France, Italy, Russia and other countries also participated in the international conference. Lectures by Azeri scientists aroused great interest on participants and caused numerous questions.
