THE SCIENTISTS OF THE INSTITUTE OF OIL AND GAS AND THE INSTITUTE OF GEOLOGY AND GEOPHYSICS DID FORECASTS OF GAS RESERVES
July 22, 2021
In recent years, the scientists of the Institute of Oil and Gas and the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS have carried out a number of complex geological-geophysical and geochemical studies dedicated to the analysis of geological conditions, oil and gas and hydrocarbon phases in the South Caspian basin (SCB). The results of this study, carried out by modern scientific methods and approaches, allowed to develop reasoned proposals in the field of the SCB exploration.
Academician Akper Feyzullayev, academician Fakhraddin Kadirov and Ph.D. in Geology and Mineralogy Shakhvaled Kocharli also developed a proposal considering the heterogeneity of the Earths crust structure (global, regional and local) and the fundamental nature of the nonuniform distribution of oil and gas resources in the sedimentary complex. In this proposal, the priority for exploration drilling in the deep-water part of the SCB, based on the tectonic-geophysical model of the SCB oil and gas fields formation, is substantiated and a forecast of expected gas reserves is given.
The proposal was officially addressed (letter No. 02/22 dated 12.02.21) to the first vice-president of SOCAR, academician Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh.
