DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN YOUNG SEISMOLOGISTS OF AZERBAIJAN AND GREAT BRITAIN WERE HELD

The Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS and the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge (the United Kingdom) held discussions on “Joint research on active tectonics and earthquakes in Azerbaijan and the South Caspian”. The participation of young scientists from Azerbaijan and the Great Britain in collaborations was discussed at the meeting.
The discussions were held online on the Zoom platform. From Azerbaijan the Deputy Director in science, PhD in technical sciences, associate professor Rauf Muradov, the head of the RSSC department of international relations Telman Jafarov, the head of the RSSC department of dynamics of earthquake sources, PhD in geological-mineralogical sciences, associate professor Sabina Kazimova took part.
The meeting was moderated by the representative of the University of Oxford and ANAS, Professor Rashid Javanshir.
The employees of the ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics (IGG) Rafiq Safarov and Orkhan Abbasov also took part in the discussions.
Sabina Kazimova spoke in detail about the work done at the RSSC and answered numerous questions.
Then the employees of the ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics - leading researcher of the department of modern geodynamics and space geodesy, PhD in Earth sciences, associate professor Rafiq Safarov and leading researcher of the department of mud volcanism, PhD in Earth sciences, associate professor Orkhan Abbasov spoke about the importance of developing “a roadmap” for joint research.
During the discussions, the questions on areas of cooperation were considered. It was decided to hold the next meeting to report on the work done.
The general project coordinator, Professor Richard Walker also attended the meeting.
