IGG SPECIALISTS WILL BE IN CHARGE OF FIELD WORKS

The heads of the sector “Paleofloristics” and the department “Geotectonics and regional geology” of the ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics (IGG), corresponding member of ANAS Talat Kengerli and PhD in Earth sciences Shafag Bayramova took part in joint field geological studies together with the Azerbaijan-French University (UFAZ), which has been operating at the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry (ASOIU) since September 2016.

The field works were carried out on the sections of the Eocene-Cretaceous ages and on the mud volcano Gyzmaryam, located along Baku-Shamakhi-Chukhuryurd-Demirchi-Lakhidzh-Brovdal-Namazgah-Gandov-Buynuz-Galachyg-Vandam-Baku.

Taking into account that the future geologists will get experience in during the field works, the UFAZ management agreed with the IGG scientists on the participation of UFAZ students in field works on geophysics and structural geology along the above-mentioned line, as well as in the Lesser Caucasus. In the first days of autumn, a team of 24 future geologists, consisting of 4th year students and UFAZ masters’ degree, will conduct field works under the supervision of IGG specialists.
