PROFESSOR FUAD HAJIZADEH TOOK PART IN CELEBRATING THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST HUMAN FLIGHT INTO SPACE

On April 12, 2021 Professor Fuad Hajizadeh represented the ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics at the online event of Baku State University, dedicated to the International Day of Human Space Flight.
F. Hajizadeh make a report on the development of the modern aerospace industry in Azerbaijan. He noted that according to the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev of May 3, 2010, Azercosmos OJSC was established in 2011 to establish and develop the space industry in Azerbaijan. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Azercosmos, the first satellite operator in the Caucasus region. Our first national communications satellite, Azerspace-1, was launched by Ariane 5 (Arianespace) into orbit on February 7, 2013 from Kourou in French Guiana Space Centre at orbital position 46° East longitude. The satellite was built by the American company Orbital Sciences Corporation on the basis of the STAR-2 satellite platform. Azerspace-1 provides radio and television broadcast services, encrypted communication, and high-speed data transmission.
F. Hajizadeh pointed out that during the elections to the General Assembly of the International Astronautical Federation in Washington in October 2019, Baku was awarded the right to host the International Astronautical Congress in 2022.
