THE ACTION PLAN OF THE INSTITUTE OF GEOLOGY AND GEOPHYSICS WAS APPROVED

The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics was held.
The event was organized in accordance with the requirements of the quarantine regime. The IGG Director, academician Akif Alizadeh opened and introduced the agenda to the participants.
The IGG Director made a report dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the outstanding scientist, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, academician Ali Amiraslanov. A.Alizadeh spoke about the professional and personal life of the scientist, about his contribution to the development of the metallurgical industry, in particular nonferrous metallurgy in the former Soviet Union. The documentary film dedicated to A. Amiraslanov was also shown.
Then the IGG scientific secretary, Ph.D. Yegana Lyatifova presented a plan for the IGG main scientific workflows for 2021.
The IGG thematic plan included works on the “Models of depth tectonics and the evolution of the South Caspian megabasin based on the new geophysical data (2021-2025)”, proposed by academician Parviz Mammadov within the framework of the research and development program; on the “Geodynamical conditions for the formation of the Earths crust and the tectonic-depositional sequences in the conjugation zone of southern microplates and the Scythian-Turanian platform (2021-2023)”.
Taking into account some changes and proposals the plan of IGG main scientific workflows for 2021 and the proposed topics were approved by the members of the Scientific Council.
