 November 13, 2020

The meeting dedicated to the programs of future researches in the liberated territories of Nagorno-Karabakh was held in the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS.

The director of the IGG, academician Akif Alizadeh said that the national cohesiveness and increased military-patriotic national spirit resulted in victory.

Academician Ak.Alizadeh pointed up the necessity to involve IGG employees in geological and geophysical surveying using modern technologies in the liberated territories of Karabakh, which have rich resources.

Academician Fakhraddin Kadirov noted that for many years the Armenian occupants have been building underground military fortifications, underground roads, tunnels, ammunition depots etc., environmental abuses in Karabakh. Thats why it is necessary to involve specialists from Azerkosmos and other relevant organizations and to create a map of these objects.

Corresponding member of ANAS Chingiz Aliyev spoke about the research “Determination and study of radioactive contamination zones in the liberated territories of Nagorno-Karabakh by using advanced technologies”. The scientist said that in the liberated territories, the organization of radioecological monitoring and a general assessment of the radioecological situation will be carried out by using mobile technologies. It is also planned to study and analyze the radioecological state of surface and ground waters, to detect “hot spots” in the liberated territories, to study their geological features and to detect the main sources of radioecological pollution.

According to corresponding member of ANAS Talat Kengerli and Doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences, Professor Musa Mammadov, the complexity and diversity of the geological tectonic structure of the earths crust in Karabakh provide the large-scale studies of minerals of both endogenous and exogenous origin. The Armenian illegally exploited more than 160 deposits of different metals.

The head researcher Tariel Huseynov spoke about the safety of reservoirs in Azerbaijan. In particular, about the Sarsang reservoir, which was under the control of the Armenian occupiers for 30 years.

ScD in Geography Vagif Mammadov spoke about the problems of water resources, about the necessity of quality and reserves of river water monitoring in the neighboring countries, and the importance of the water proper use as a life spring.

In conclusion, Academician Akif Alizadeh said that under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the large-scale reclamation works will be carried out in the liberated territories. These works will also include comprehensive geological and geophysical researches.
