PRELIMINARY DISCUSSION OF THE MASTER’s THESIS HAS BEEN HELD IN THE ONLINE MEETING OF THE SECTION OF “PHYSICS OF THE EARTH”

The deputy chair of the Section of physics of the Earth, ScD in Earth Sciences, associate professor Gulam Babayev opened the meeting and acquainted the participants with the meeting review.
The preliminary discussion of the dissertation of the senior assistant of the Department of modern geodynamics and space geodesy, master Fataliyeva Khublar Arzuman kyzy “The temporal variations of the gravity field and the periodicity analysis (on the example of the Sheki gravity station)” will be held during the meeting of the Section of physics of the Earth.
Khublar Fataliyeva undertook a masters degree of the ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics in 2018, in the specialty of Geophysical methods of prospecting and exploration of oil and gas fields (060604).
Kh. Fatalieyva presented the participants an abstract of the masters thesis “The temporal variations of the gravity field and the periodicity analysis (on the example of the Sheki gravity station)”. The master noted that the goal of research is to study the vertical strains of the Earths crust of the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus. This research was based on the study of tidal variations of the Earths gravitational field with the use the data from the Sheki gravity station.
The study of vertical strains of the Earths crust of Sheki region is of great practical importance for planning of Earth surface, for high-precision gravity study, for construction process (such as laying oil-and- gas or water pipelines), for definition diurnal and half-day primary tide waves O1, M2, S2, K1 in the study region, for assessment of the vertical tidal deformations of the Earths crust in Sheki and parameters analysis of the tidal waves to obtain residual tides.
After the report, Kh. Fataliyeva answered numerous questions of participants.
Doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences Ibrahim Safarov and PhD in Earth Sciences, associate professor Rafig Safarov suggested comments on the report.
At the end of the meeting, the preliminary discussion of the dissertation “The temporal variations of the gravity field and the periodicity analysis (on the example of the Sheki gravity station)” was estimated at 43 points. The dissertation will be submitted for defense taking into account comments and suggestions.
