Every two years, the International Conference of Young Scientists and Students is held it the ANAS IGG, dedicated to the different modern problems of geology and geophysics for young scientists, specialists and PhD students.

The VII International Conference “Information technologies for solving modern problems of geology and geophysics”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the IGG, started on October, 15 under the auspices of the ANAS IGG. More than 150 young scientists, PhD students and specialists from 18 countries (Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Germany, Bulgaria, Pakistan, etc.) took part at the conference. The sponsors of conference are BP, TOTAL and SOCAR.

The opening ceremony was held in the assembly hall of the ANAS Central Scientific Library. The welcome speech was made by Academician-secretary of the Division of Earth Sciences of ANAS, academician Fakhraddin Kadirov. The scientist noted the importance of this event and the development of science in Azerbaijan, wished continued success in the conference future endeavours.

Then, the Chairman of the Scientific Organizing Committee, Academician Akper Feyzullaev, the Chairman of the young scientists and specialists of ANAS, the PhD in Physics, the Associate Professor Famin Salmanov, the Chairman of the young scientists and specialists of IGG, the PhD in Earth Sciences, the Associate Professor Orkhan Abbasov, BPs authorized representative Arzu Javadova and Professor Jan Lerch (Martin Luther University, Germany) gave a speech.

Then planar reports of participants from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia and Hungary were heard.

After the lunch break, the German professor Ian Lerch held a master class.

The discussions of papers of the conference participants will be held on October 16-18, 2018.

The conference program also includes excursions to the Dashgil mud volcano (Gobustan), to the Gobustan National Historical-Artistic Reserve, to the State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher”, as well as to the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum.

The conference goal is the support of young specialists working in the field of geology and geophysics, the data increasing about modern scientific methods, the possibility of discussion and exchange of scientific research and experience with the foreign colleagues.
