Azerbaijani and Ukrainian scientists have identified new directions of cooperation
Geology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of
Azerbaijan (GI NANA) develops relationships with scientific organizations and
universities of Ukraine. To this end, the scientists of IG of ANAS, academician
Ibrahim Guliyev, corresponding member of ANAS Hatam Guliyev and candidate of
geological and mineralogical sciences Khanlar Agayev visited the Institute of
Geophysics of National Academy of Sciences (IG NAS), the Geological Faculty of
Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko (KNU) and the Scientific
Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU). Within a seven-day visit, the scientists of
both countries agreed to hold international grant projects.
Our scientists have spoken in seminars on a theme "Modeling of
elastic parameters of the geological environment, considering modern
geodynamics, which were held at the IG of NASU and STCU. In seminars the results
of the grant project titled "Investigations of the physical and mechanical
properties of rocks and the dynamics of their changes in different temperature
and pressure conditions" were also discussed, which was approved in 2007 in STCU
and financed by the European Union. These results will be published on the
advice of scientists in the international journal "Geophysics" - edition of the
National Academy of Sciences. Also, scientists have decided to prepare the new
project in the above-stated direction and include it to the European Union, to
continue the project for another 3 years. Let’s notice that importance of this
decision have been emphasized in the international seminar, devoted to the
project, which was held in Baku this year.
Questions on a professional training and an exchange of
experience have been included to the plan for future cooperation with Ukrainian
scientists. The parties agreed to prepare a project on "Study of the oil and gas
potential of the Caspian-Black Sea Basin considering modern geodynamics”,
together with leading research centers and universities in Europe and to present
it to the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union.
